Subaru Lineup for 2009 SEMA Show Unveiled

Subaru of America revealed that visitors to the 2009 SEMA SHow, scheduled to be held in Las Vegas on November 3-6, will feast their eyes with two tuned models, showcased alongside a Subaru classic model. The company’s in-house performance division, Subaru Performance Tuning (SPT) has built a custom Impreza WRX STI and Legacy VIP concept especially for the show. The latter is a one-off vehicle inspired by the VIP rides from the streets of Tokyo, LA and New York.

The classic model that Subaru referred to is a 1969 micro van, one of the first models to be sold by Subaru of America. Its two-cylinder, two-stroke 356 cc engine outputs 25 hp and 25.3 lb-ft of torque, while delivering a fuel economy of 66 mpg.

The 2010 Subaru WRX STI by SPT is fitted with a 2.5-liter DOHC, 16 valve, turbocharged an intercooled 4-cylinder Subaru Boxer engine, with Dual Active Valve Control System, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. An SPT exhaust system boosts horsepower to 315 hp, while the peak torque stays at 290 lb-ft. Moreover, there is also an SPT turbo heat shield.

Prodrive GT2 wheels are finished in Glitter Gold and wear Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 245/35R19 performance tires.

Interior features include an SPT boost gauge, a media hub digital music integration system, an auto-dimming mirror with transflective display and HomeLink transmitter, an STI shift knob and all-weather floor mats.

As for the Subaru Legacy VIP model, the company says that it “is not for the faint of heart.” The 265 turbocharged intercooled engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Exterior features include power folding signal mirrors with chrome caps, vent shades, hood, bumper faces, sport grille, front and rear under spoilers, HID headlights and fog lights, all sourced from the Japanese domestic market (JDM) Legacy. The body is sprayed in Shinjuku Black Plum.

Interior features include auto-dimming mirror with transflective display and HomeLink transmitter and an STI Duracon shift knob. Onboard entertainment is offered through a JVC KD-AVX77 touch screen head unit up front and twin rear seat multifunction displays in the rear.
