Subaru Joins the Fight Against the Snow and Cold

The heavy snow and extreme cold which hit the UK in recent days have been somewhat of a God sent gift for Subaru, whose cars were put to very hard work by a Subaru dealership in Scotland. No less than eight permanent Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive Subarus has been dispatched by the Alex F. Noble & Son to help the people who became stranded because of the weather.

More precisely, the dealership (which, by the way, deserves some type of recognition for its efforts) sent the fleet of vehicles to aid and assist the British Red Cross in transporting its members to the worst hit areas of Dalkeith, Midlothian.

The cars have also been transformed into ambulances and served as the transport means of choice when it came to ferrying patients to and from GP surgeries.

“With many roads proving impassable across Midlothian, our phones have been ringing non-stop. We are extremely grateful for Alex F. Noble & Son’s skill and assistance during this harsh winter snap,” said Rhona West, a spokesperson for the British Red Cross.

The example set by the eight Subarus was soon followed by other dealerships in the affected regions. One by one, the Japanese cars have been taken off the floor of the showrooms and sent to do the dirty work other cars are unable to do.

The effort to help the Red Cross and emergency services is supported by Auto Ecosse Subaru in Dundee and Dennis Common.

"We have ferried numerous stranded nurses to and from the Accident and Emergency Department at Dundee’s Ninewells hospital,"
added Tim Hancock from Auto Ecosse. "In fact, we’ve had such a positive response to our support that we’re now employing a driver to go out and rescue members of the public who are stranded in the snow and ice.”
