The carmaker has announced that the Impreza WRX and the Impreza WRX STI Type UK will offer a number of optional upgrades free of charge, giving petrolheads the change to drive enhanced vehicles for the same money.
The free items, which normaly would have retailed for 3,200 pounds, include a performance package developed by Prodrive and a set of new 18 inch alloy rims that are wrapped in high performance tires.
The Performance pack consists of a modified ECU and a flow-optimised sports exhaust system that allows the WRX model to cut 0.6 seconds of the car’s 5.8 seconds 0 to 62 mph time. When installed on the beefier STI version, the kit reduces the 0-62 time by 0.4 seconds, enabling the vehicle to reach the 62mph mark in 4,8 seconds.
The absolute values might not seem impressive, but, trust us, they’re a pretty good achievement. That’s because, when it comes to performance 0 to 62 sprint times, every tenth of a second matters.
In addition to that, the company has reduced the retail price of the WRX model by 95 pounds.
“With this offer we’ve added even more value into the Impreza equation. The WRX and STI are performance-car icons with a seriously loyal following and we hope that the prospect of these free upgrades will broaden their appeal still further,” said Subaru UK Marketing Director, Kenyon Neads.
