You probably know Stitch the Russian biker dog sensation which went viral on the internet a couple of years ago. Well, Stitch has recently been left without his biggest passion, as “his" BMW K1200RS motorcycle was stolen.
The BMW was stolen from outside his owner’s house in Sovetsk, Russia, in early May. After filing a complaint with the local police, the search for the stolen two-wheeler commenced and after two weeks, the bike was found in a garage in Kaliningrad, some 26 km (16 miles) away from its lawful owner.
There's is no information on whether the thieves have been apprehended, as the Russian police press release was rather laconic. However, since the bike was found, fingerprints and further police work could eventually lead to the identity of those responsible for the theft.
10-years-old Stitch the “Moto-dog”, or Moto-pyos (Russian translation) is already famous in the country, after his owner has uploaded multiple videos of him riding with the dog on the top of the fuel tank. Stitch is not the only dog which enjoys riding a motorcycle, but seeing him aboard a sport machine is definitely one thing we don’t stumble upon very often.
In the gallery below you can also meet Emma, a Westie belonging to one of my Romanian rider buddies. A skilled leather worker, his owner has also crafted a riding vest and a leather-clad helmet which Emma wears at all the rallies she attends.
In fact dogs on motorcycles are common enough for the accessories industry to consider designing and selling specialized products for making life aboard a bike safer and easier. Saddlemen offers specialized convertible pet carriers, while the perfect style can be achieved with the Dog Saucer. Now that they’ve both got their ride back, we’re waiting for new footage from Stitch and his owner. Oh, and if you have a riding pet and are looking for riding gear or helmets, you could also drop Darian the leather expert a line on Facebook. He also has doggles... dog goggles, that is!
