Needless to say that Steve McQueen had an excellent taste in cars. As we all know, the actor was passionate about everything mechanic. There’s a reason he was named “The King of Cool”. As opposed to what they do today, he truly had an anti-hero persona that spoke out loud when it came to taking everything from cars to airplanes to the edge and back. This 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera is the very last special order Porsche the great actor bought.
As if the model itself wasn’t a handful already; as if the first units Porsche produced weren’t already rare on their own, this particular breed has Steve McQueen’s legacy all over the place. With this highly-esteemed collectible, Chad McQueen himself handled the presentation. Watching the actor son talking about both his father’s life and the way that resembles in the car is simply mesmerizing.

Nevertheless, the 3.0-liter engine working through that 4-speed manual transmission, the slate gray exterior, and the black interior are creating their fair share of jaw-dropping fever. In terms of individual favors the actor asked for, there may be on thing worth mentioning.

Apparently, there’s a dashboard switch added by McQueen to kill the rear lights in case he was being chased on Mulholland Drive. We may have not checked the legal code, but this doesn't exactly stand for what you’d call legal fairness.

As you may have guessed already, we are dealing with an extremely rare breed that will fetch a ton of cash in August when it will go under the hammer at Mecum Auctions. But you should know that a portion of the proceeds will be donated to benefit The Boys Republic, a non-profit treatment community for troubled youngsters in Chino Hills, California.

Why this particular organization? Because Steve McQueen was a 1946 alumnus of the institution, and he attributes it to being the one place that turned his life around.
