Here is a video that’s the embodiment of sheer luck: one couple from Thailand was almost crushed to death in a freak accident near a construction site.
Luckily, they managed to escape almost unharmed, suffering only minor injuries to their hands and wrists. And it’s all down to the steel pile landing on the hood of the car. One can only imagine what the result would have been had the pile fell on the roof.

The incident happened in Thailand and was captured on the dashcam of the car following the white Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan the couple was in. In a matter of seconds, a giant steel pile is knocked loose by a crane and lands on the hood of the car, in what could only be described as a terrible freak accident.

You can’t see the front of the car in the video, but we assume it was damaged beyond repair.

Right after the steel pile falls, a man emerges on the passenger side and a female driver steps out as well. She is clearly in shock and the man is seen heading over to her side to confront her, while she’s undecided whether to cry or use her phone to contact someone to tell them about what had just happened.

Reports online say that both were injured on their hands and were treated at a local hospital. No word yet on what caused the accident, but we assume an investigation is underway. It’s clear that whoever operated the crane was at fault by some miscalculation or an error of judgment, but the contractors will probably be held liable for what happened.

This is the kind of freak accident that can make one reevaluate everything, isn’t it. Had the Mercedes been one foot farther up the road, this could have ended in tragedy and no amount of legal punishments could have made up for it.
