There’s an unwritten golden rule saying that, if you do something incredible stupid and illegal, it’s best not to film yourself while doing it – let alone make that video public by sharing it with friends and on social media.
One Chinese man running for the Dad of the Year award (not really, no), didn’t get the memo. So he put his 5-year-old kid behind the wheel of his Volkswagen and filmed him while driving on an empty highway.
The road might have been empty, but the kid was still a kid, which means what he did was illegal. Plus, the boy was going 40mph, which, though pretty impressive, is also stupidly dangerous.
According to the Daily Mail, the father then shared the video to the child’s nursery school chat group, presumably to brag to other parents about how his kid was more skilled than theirs. From what the boy is saying in the video (“Why are you filming me while I'm driving?” and “Do you think this will get a lot of likes?”), it’s safe to assume the idiot dad also shared it on social media.
Eventually, his stunt ended by biting him where the sun don’t shine. The video founds its way to the police in the city Zhuzhou (in Central China’s Hunan province) and they opened an investigation into the incident.
The father is now looking at some time behind bars, a fine and having his driver’s license suspended. If a joke is to be made here, it would run somewhere along the lines of, “he did show them he didn’t need it himself, when he let a 5-year-old do all the driving.”
On a more serious note, remember: minors should not be driving. Ever. They shouldn’t even be in the front seat, because they should be strapped to their child seats in the back.
