We're feeling sorry for the Mercedes 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, which is being replaced by the fresh 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8. However, the 6.3, as Merc calls it, won't go down without a fight. A Black Series fight.
The mightiest incarnation of the unit, the one used on the SLS AMG supercar is about to get even meaner, as Mercedes' Black Series fever will also catch the SLS.

That's right: our spy photographers have caught the SLS AMG Black Series during a Nurburgring testing session.

Since we started our story with its mill we have to mention that in the Black Series version will churn out 650 hp. And it will also have less weight to carry around, as the supercar will go on a diet.

All the mods should bring the SLS into the sub three second 0 to 60 mph sprint territory.

The Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series will also drill a... black hole in you bank account, as the car is expected to come with a price tag of over $500,000 (EUR364,000 at the current exchange rate).

Our say: the flagship version of a flagship. Sweet.
