The tie-up between Mercedes-Benz and the Renault-Nissan alliance is going to offer the world a new fruit this fall, when the Germans will present a new city van - Based on the platform of the Renault Kangoo, the vehicle will use the Citan designation.
A concept version of the Citan is set to be displayed at the AA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover in September (we've added a sketch of this below). The production model will be available in multiple version, inlcuding a panel van, a crewbus, as well as a mixed-use vehicle, with customers being able to choose between multiple wheelbases and roof heights.

Under the hood, we’ll find a range of efficient petrol and diesel units, with an electirc version scheduled to be released subsequently. Mercedes brags that the van will be adapted to the urban transportation needs, so it will only be inferior to its other vans in terms of size, and not also in other areas.

The Citan is part of Mercedes-Benz plan to refresh its van range, which will also see the company release a new generation of the Viano, as well as a facelift for the Sprinter.
