When Volkswagen launches a new car, you sometimes get well over a hundred photos of it in a matter of day, detailing even the differences in styling between a diesel and a sporty petrol version. These photos are carefully doctored and edited to become the perfect greeting card of the upcoming model.
But even though they are also German, Opel only gave us a handful of shots for the Mokka sub-compact SUV. That was also the case with the new Astra OPC (VXR), and it always makes us feel like these relatively cool cars will never get the market success they sometimes deserve. And so we’re taking things into our hands by showing you the Mokka as it really is, on the road.

These spy photos show a camouflaged version of the the Mokka. It might be called an SUV, but with its bulbous shape and relatively low ride hight, it looks more like an MPV. In fact, it share a passing resemblance to the previous generation Volkswagen Golf Plus, which was also a bit of a jacked up job.

The Mokka will be available in Europe with a naturally aspirated 115 HP 1.6-liter or a /130 hp 1.7 CDTI turbo diesel with 300 Nm of torque. Both come with standard start-stop and a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The market launch should take place in late summer or early autumn this year. Tell us, do you want one?

autoevolution will be attending the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
