Back in 2010, Mercedes-Benz made a pretty unusual announcement, introducing the news that Volker Mornhinweg, who was head of Mercedes-Benz’ AMG division at the time, would leave this position to take the helm of the company’s van division. So, what does the former go-fast boss do these days? Well, the company is preparing to seriously refresh its van range and we’ve brought you some spy shots, so that you can see exactly what he’s been cooking.
We’ll start with the mid-size Viano, which will receive a new generation that’s scheduled to go on sale next year. Our team of photographers came across a test mule, which mixes the current car (from the A-pillar to the rear) with an all-new front end.
In an effort to meet stricter pedestrian protection standards, the Viano will receive a car-like front end. As for what we’ll be under the hood, the only info available so far, an unofficial one, is that the van will receive BlueEfficiency diesel engines.
You can also read about the Sprinter facelift and the all-new Citan city van, as these two have also entered out crosshair recently.
