Honda revealed the ninth generation Honda Civic hatchback more than a year ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011, and made it a lot better recently by adding a new 1.6-liter diesel that promises impressive economy figures.
The next step for the Civic is for it to receive a much larger boot and making it into an estate. The subsequent Civic Wagon will enter production next year and will go head to head with the VW Golf Variant, the Focus Estate and recently launched Kia and Hyundai models, the cee'd and i30 tourers.
Even though the prototype is hiding under heavy camouflage, we pretty much know what it's going to look like already. Honda has a strange habit of making its concepts almost production-ready, and the Civic Wagon was thus previewed in Geneva last month.
The production version of the Civic Tourer will be in dealerships in early 2014 and will be built alongside the hatchback model in Honda’s production facility in Swindon, Wiltshire. It will be available with the very same choice of four engines, two petrol and two diesel, as the Civic hatch.
