The seventh generation Volkswagen Golf is touted as being the best Golf they have made in years, with excellent handling, great turbocharged engines, an understated exterior look and a superb interior, it`s really got a lot going for it.
However, some buyers need a little bit of extra carrying capacity, yet still want to have the latest Golf. Well, they`ll have to wait until late next year or 2014, as the estate or wagon version of the car will not be available until then. The first thing that strikes one, when looking at the spyshots, is just how big the Golf estate really is - it is encroaching on Passat teritory, which leads us to believe that the next Passat will also grow in size, to keep the size difference between the two offerings.
We don`t really know if VW is considering hot versions of the Golf estate, but they should - just imagine an all-wheel drive R version of this, with 270 hp. Even a GTI version would do nicely, and we say it would sell just enough cars to make it a viable project. Currently, we just have the Ford Focus ST estate and the recently-announced hot Renault Megane Estate, with 220 hp.
