Mercedes is pushing the S-Class development pedal hard as the vehicle is getting closer to its launch and the latest series of spyshots shows the car during a winter testing session.
The 2014 S-Class has lost some of its camouflage and we can already see some of the details, even though the most important parts of the front and rear fascias are still covered. The design will follow Mercedes’ traditional line, but the company previously promised that it would give us a piece of memorable styling.

The S-Class will move upmarket with the launch of the new generation, by offering two special models that will replace the Maybach range, which has been discontinued. Apart from these, the S-Class range will include the standard and long wheelbase incarnations of the car, as well as a coupe and a cabriolet. The last two will see the CL Coupe and Cabriolet being integrated into the S-Class line-up.

As for the engines that will be featured by the 2014 S-Class, Mercedes will offer an efficiency bump for certain powerplants that are currently in use, while also introducing new developments. For example, the AMG units will be taken further than ever before and the S65 AMG could offer north of 650 hp.
