Skoda will officially reveal the brand new Octavia very soon, so its time to take one last personal look at the car, before they start bombarding us with statements.
The new Octavia was spotted in all its glory recently by CarScoop reader Nicholas Willson, who took this picture in Santiago, the capital city of Chile. The car was there for a photo shoot, with the only bit that’s covered up being the logo at the front.
The new skin of the Octavia is make it look comfortable in its elegance. In this market filled with overdone designs, Skoda’s solution is minimal, with just a few character lines visible.
Skoda has sculpted the MQB modular platform into a much bigger sedan, by about 250mm compared to the Octavia II. Yet since it uses lightweight construction, not even the smaller engines will have problems shifting the car.
Speaking of engines, the range will include a base 1.2-liter TSI with 105 PS, a 1.4-liter TSI with 140 PS and at lots of diesel configurations displacing 1.6- and 2.0-liters, producing from 105 to about 180 horsepower. The vRS version will use 2-liter petrol and diesel engines, with outputs likely being 220 hp and 180 hp respectively.
