Quite difficult to distinguish underneath what is perhaps the most disgusting camo we've seen in the last year or so is Peugeot's replacement model for the 407 and 607, the 508.
What hides beneath the camo is anybody's guess but, truth be told, it's not hard to imagine, given the fact that the French manufacturer previewed the model through the "5 by Peugeot" concept presented at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show.
Maintaining about the same lines as seen on the 5, the car will basically have the same dimensions as the concept. It will be however, a bit bigger than the 407 (184.3 in, 4,681 mm) and a bit smaller than the 607 (192.9 in, 4,900 mm) because, as said, it will have to replace both.
Engine wise, it is to be expected the 508 will receive 5's 2.0-liter HDi FAP 163 bhp engine and its 37 bhp electric motor, becoming the French carmaker's first production hybrid model, to be launched sometime in 2012.
The range of engines to be offered is likely to be extensive, as was the case with both the models it is meant to replace. Yet, the 508 will receive revised versions of the units found on the 407, while the 2.2l diesel unit will be scrapped, as will other EURO 4 compliant engines.
The car will pack under the hood, among the many engines, the 2.0 HDi (160 bhp) and the 3.0l V6 with a six speed automatic transmission (237 bhp). On the petrol side, the star of the line-up will be the 1.6l turbo (156 bhp).
