Peugeot is working on several new innovative models and the recent concept shown at various auto shows around the world comes to support this statement. The recently-presented 5 by Peugeot concept model that will attend the 2010 Geneva Auto Show is believed to make it to production as Peugeot 508, the car you're seeing in the adjacent photo gallery.
The spyshots we have here, which by the way are only revealing a few things "thanks" to the garbage bags-like camouflage used by Peugeot, are showing a sleeker sedan with more aerodynamic lines than the existing 407 and 607 models. And speaking of these vehicles, the upcoming Peugeot 508 is likely to replace both of them, albeit some might consider this decision pretty awkward.
However, this could leave room for a more luxurious sedan to be introduced sometime in the future, but Peugeot is yet to give us a hint on this scenario.
The 5 by Peugeot concept will be displayed, as we said, at the Geneva Motor Show in March while the production version is likely to be showcased one year later at the same event.
Technical details of the 508 are yet unknown but the concept we'll see next month is powered by a 2.0 litre HDi FAP163 bhp diesel engine, mounted at the front of the vehicle, which is combined with a 37 bhp electric motor at the rear. The overall power is 200 hp, while fuel consumption and emissions go around 74.3 mpg and 99 g/km of CO2 or zero in electric mode.
