Among the models brought by Toyota at this year’s Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show, attendees had the chance to see a special Camry Hybrid that is intended for local assembly.
Known as a “Malaysian concept” the sedan wears some interesting features, like a subtle bodykit, Modelista wheels as well as Lexus-borrowed perforated interior leather and exterior paint.

Under the hood lays a 2-liter VVT-I Atkinson cycle gasoline engine making 160 PS and 213 Nm, mated to a 143 PS/270 Nm electric motor and CVT. The combined system develops a total of 205 PS, making the sedan go from 0 to 100 km/h in 8,6 seconds and achieve an average combined fuel consumption of 19.6 km/l (5.1 l/100 km or 46.1 mpg).

As the upcoming National Automotive Policy revision is expected to offer more incentives to locally-assembled energy efficient vehicles, the Camry Hybrid might have a chance on the Malaysian market.
