The Kia Soul has been a big hit for the Korean manufacturer, especially in the States, where people really seem to love them. However, if you live in China, and want to pay less for your Kia Soul, there will soon be an alternative.
It’s called the Chang’an CS35, and it is a city-orriented crossover, first revealed in April, at the Beijing Motor Show. Now, the manufacturer has announced that the car is going on sale later this month, priced between 80,000 and 100,000 yuan (€9,750 - €12,200 / $12,700 - $15,900).

The CS35 is quite stylish, and while its Kia Soul roots are more than obvious, it is a distinctive offering, which is surprisingly stylish and well-proportioned - the blue paint finish of the car in the pictures is also quite attractive, as are the rather larger rims. The interior is clearly inspired by that of the more recent Hyundai models.

Power comes from a 1.6-liter engine with 125 hp and 160 Nm of torque. The unit can be connected to either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual gearbox, driving the front wheels.

Chang’an will also offer a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, with 174 hp and 192 Nm, which will undoubtedly make this an even more tempting proposition, and with pricing so low, they should try selling it to the cash-strapped Europeans.
