Korean carmaker Hyundai has specifically targeted the growing Brazilian market with the HB20 supermini. The car is designed and will be built in Brazil, following its debut at the Sao Paulo show.
The HB20 will be sold from October with a choice of 1.0-liter 80 hp or 1.6-liter 128 hp petrol engines. A choice of either a five-speed manual or automatic gearboxes will be offered. Prices are to start from BRL31,991, which is just under $16,000.
Hyundai’s officials have revealed plans for further Brazilian-built models, including a small sedan and a crossover coming next year.
"For Hyundai, the launch of HB20 means a lot more than simply presenting a new model. Unlike our other models currently offered in Brazil, HB20 is the first model strategically developed and produced exclusively for the Brazilian market," said Chang Kyun Han, President of Hyundai Motors Brazil.
