This compact model designed for the South American market has been the best selling car in the region for the last 30 years, with over five million delivered.

The hatchback is built on the VW small front-drive platform, shared with cars like the VW Polo and SEAT Ibiza.

For 2012, the Gol has a new front fascia with angular headlights and grille. The rear end has also been enhanced a bit. But we’re more interested in what can be done with the Gol.

The compact hatchback could become an estate version, as seen in this rendering by Theophilus Chin. However, giving it a big overhanging boot has made it look a bit more like an MPV.

Along with the Gol, Volkswagen has also recently shown a redesigned version of the Voyage, the sedan variant of the Gol.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
