It looks like Jaguar Land Rover is not the only carmaker looking to boost its Chinese operations these days, as Ford is also following this pathway, with the Blue Oval set to introduce a new sub-brand in the country.
According to autocar, Ford is working together with Chinese joint venture partners Mazda and domestic company Chang’an Motors to launch a new series of models in the following three years.
Ford was willing to grab a bigger slice of the world’s largest automaker and was forced to introduce this move as the Chinese government requires foreign carmakers to create JVs with local carmakers and create local brands.
This will allow Ford to build four new car factories in China by 2015, including a site for producing Lincoln vehicles, which are registering a high demand in the country.
