Sondors is probably the most successful crowdfunded electric bike project to date, having raised more than $6 million (€5.35 mil) earlier to date, and this calls for upgrades and a new offer. A new Sondors version can be had for a limited time for $500 (€446), and it brings more cool features.
Various options are available, and they include a lightweight aluminium frame that is tough without adding extra bulk, front suspensions, a higher-capacity battery, a LCD screen and mudguards.

The new lithium-ion battery pack is a 12.8 Ah with Samsung cells, and it provides better range in both full and assisted modes. Speaking of range, the anxiety has met its match with the new Sondors LCD display. The add-on will offer readings such as distance traveled and the remaining battery charge. It will also help riders optimize their pedal assist for a better range and improved overall riding experience.

Even with the upgrades, the Sondors remains an affordable ebike

Riders can opt for the aluminium frame wich is a $300 (€267) extra, while front suspensions are an additional $70 (€62). The higher battery capacity is $85 (€76) on the shopping list. Sondors can also be ordered with slightly narrower tires, in case you plan to ride it in urban areas more than you would off the road.

Sondors retains the 350W motor with a top speed of 20 mph (32 km/h) and offering a range of up to 50 miles (80 km), and it looks like these specs were good enough for more than 7,000 customers. The info arrives in a Sondors press release you can also read after the jump.

An exclusive Sondors Owners' Club will also include the original backers and provide access to select optional upgrades, too. So if you feel like you could use a pedelec that looks so radically different than most others out there, go get yourself a Sondors.
