A few days ago we were reporting that the SKULLY AR-1 founders were forced to leave the company by the other investors for being on a different page regarding the future of the business. Well, it looks like things are going from bad to worse as new bits of information suggest the activity is shutting down.
An anonymous source close to SKULLY just tipped us some new information on the case and it looks like the company will soon shut it gates, despite the fact that a new CEO was found to replace departing co-founders, Marcus and Mitch Weller.

Our insider says that SKULLY may be filling for bankruptcy soon. Apparently, the investors pressured Marcus to quit after finding out he was trying to sell the startup to a Chinese company, an action that would result in the investors on getting their money back without profit.

SKULLY’s investors gave Marcus about two days to sign his release papers or else they will shut down the company, meaning everybody involved will be laid off, and the rest of the orders will be left undelivered. The word is that early birds who already paid for the AR-1 smart helmets won’t even get their money back.

“Marcus knew all of this and hasn’t signed anything because he is holding out for some money,” tells the insider. “I guess the 5-million they offered him when the company sells weren't enough. As of today, Skully is done. Everyone went to clean out their desk and said their goodbyes. If only Marcus wasn’t so greedy everyone at Skully would be at work right now.”

The affirmations seem to go head to head against Martin Fletcher, SKULLY’s new CEO, promise to deliver the remaining orders after building a sturdy supply chain and manufacturing plan.

In case the whole business goes south, several vendors and suppliers will remain with unpaid bills, more than 50 full-time employees will have to find another job while more than 3,000 people that pre-ordered an AR-1 helmet won’t get anything back. And we’re talking about $1,500 per helmet here.

Although the AR-1 already appears unavailable on other vendors’ web sites, the official SKULLY web page still accepts orders at the moment of writing this piece.
