Skoda Octavia GreenLine II Scores Green Small Family Car Award

The second generation of the Skoda Octavia GreenLine has been named the best Small Family Car in the Green Car Awards 2011 ceremony. The model comes in both hatchback and estate forms, offering excellent economy figures of up to 74.3 mpg on Britain’s roads.

The Octavia GreenLine II offers both fleet and private owners an effective method of reducing their running costs without compromising or practicality and ease of use. The cleanest and most fuel efficient Octavia ever made, the GreenLine II is powered by a 1.6 TDI CR 105 horsepower engine that features common rail technology for better fuel use. This engine technology offers many advantages such as quieter running, fewer moving parts and improved performance.

The Next Green Car awards are based on the website’s unique Green Car Rating (GCR).  This ranks every car out of 100 by examining CO2 and seven other exhaust emissions across the life-cycle of the vehicle. This calculation makes it possible to compare different fuel types/drive-trains on a single scale. The lower the number, the greener the car, and the Skoda got a GCR of just 28.

“We are delighted to win this award.  Skoda’s second generation GreenLine product range has been developed to showcase cutting-edge technologies that reduce emissions and keep running costs to a minimum without compromising on the exceptional value for money and high quality for which Skoda has become famous,”
Chris Horrell, Skoda UK Product Marketing Manager, commented.

"With the new Octavia, Skoda continues to excel with a low emission family car that is practical, affordable, with plenty of room inside for five adults to travel comfortably,”
added the judges of Next Green Car.
