Skoda recently announced that it has debuted the assembly of the Roomster MPV at its Vrchlabi plant. The move makes the site an important part of the company’s development strategy.
The Vrchlabi site has previously been used to bring the Octavia Tour to the world. After a total of 1,442,126 units units produced, the last one rolled off the line in mid-November last year.
“Skoda’s manufacturing capacities in the Czech Republic are the basis for the success of our brand. In the past years, we were able to steadily increase our capacity. Škoda Auto will continue to rely on domestic production in the future,” said Skoda’s chairman of the board, Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland.
“With the production of the Skoda Roomster, we have found a good future for the manufacturing plant in Vrchlabí, too.”
The Czech automotive producer has big plans for the Roomster. The vehicle has received a facelift last year and is expected to attract more and more customers, as it offers a fresh look and more efficient engines.
“The Skoda Roomster is the first so-called multi purpose vehicle (MPV) of the Czech manufacturer. The versatile vehicle is a real transformation artist. With its enormous loading capacity, generous headroom and legroom, and the highly variable utilization of its interior space, the Roomster is an ideal vehicle primarily for families, offering comfort, safety, and utility in an equal measure. In 2010, the model received an extensive facelift. With the new face and new engines, the popular all-rounder has been even more attractive since,” stated the press release.
