While the 2024 edition of TX2K, which took place at the historical Texas Motorplex venue in Ennis, Texas, some forty miles away from downtown Dallas, ended on March 17 after five feisty days of action, its echoes still linger on within the social media community.
For example, the good folks over at the racing-focused ImportRace channel on YouTube were on point during TX2K's 2024 edition, which took place March 12-17 in Texas and has given their coverage almost daily since. They started with the most spectacular and dangerous part of motorcar racing – the crashes. So, we saw both mild and hard accidents involving an Audi R8, a Ford Mustang (it's a Mustang thing, of course), as well as a beautiful Z that was hot-rodded but unfortunately didn't last long as it met its demise against the concrete barrier.

Moving on to more serious stuff at TX2K24, we saw how a beaut of an orange Dodge Charger Hellcat raced a fellow Demon, a Challenger, and a Camaro and stomped all on its way to an all-new class world record. There were also 'sleeper' cars like a BMW M240i that just couldn't get enough of Toyota GR Supra cousins and tried to obliterate all. Exotics were also on point, including McLarens and Porsches – but they were easily stunned by a little Audi TT RS rascal.

Last but not least, there was also some roll racing at the Texas Motorplex, and monsters with more than 2,000 horsepower roared and tried to show who was the king of the hill. The little ones – like an AWD Honda Civic hatchback didn't budge and went for seven-second passes, too. But, of course, no such quarter-mile dragstrip encounter would be complete without some mind-blowing six-second passes, right?

No worries, there were enough of them, too. In the latest video feature, the host chose a great-looking black Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 with dual blue stripes and a single-turbo setup as it worked its way up the chain of command. The first victim was a fellow Ford Mustang dressed in matte gray, and the latter wasn't a challenger at all because it missed the launch and looked like it was standing still while the GT500 nailed a 6.76s pass at 209 mph (336 kph).

Secondly, later during the day, the sun shone brightly over the drifty Shelby and its next opponent – a black-silver Ford Mustang that tried – and failed – to exert supremacy. Although it did its best, it also looked like it was standing still compared to the GT500's 7.01 pass, and it lost the match with a 9.48 result. The evening brought the spectacle of an older crimson Shelby blowing fire through its side exhaust and missing the start – it wouldn't get any mercy, though, given the GT500's 6.8s pass.

However, the last rival was the toughest one yet – the big winner of the Street Car Elite Class was ultimately Brett LaSala and his 2,930-horsepower Ford Mustang GT still equipped with the 'factory' Coyote V8 engine called Snot Rocket 2.0! Their results were eloquent: 6.47s versus 6.88s. Still very cool, right?
