If it has four wheels and an engine, why not drag race it against another vehicle? Now, you wouldn't expect any kind of truck to be particularly speedy, but for the purpose of this video things are somewhat different. Bringing out some of the most potent trucks on the market, the end result might surprise you, at least in 2 out of 3 scenarios.
First off let's have a look at the trucks that were brought over to the IMI Motorsports Complex in Colorado. We're looking at three different Fords and a Dodge. The first Ford is an F-150 Ecoboost, which is rated at 375 horsepower in its stock form, but the producers of the show claim that it has been 5 Star tuned, and it may have an extra 100 horsepower available.
While the Raptor seen here is also rated at around 450 horsepower, which does put it at a disadvantage due to increased weight and use of bigger tires, there's a more potent contender out on the track as well: the Shelby F-150 Super Snake. With a supercharged V8 under the hood, output levels should be over the 700 horsepower mark, making this the most powerful truck here, alongside with the 702 horsepower Dodge Ram TRX.
Now, this doesn't seem like a quarter-mile (402 meters) race, and information is vague regarding the actual distance, albeit the reviewers do seem to keep an eye out on 0-60 mph (96 kph) times. The trucks are split up in brackets and for the first race the F-150 Ecoboost takes on the Raptor and takes the win.
Now, expectations were that the Ecoboost would be brought down by the Shelby F-150, but after two runs, it managed to come out on top once again. So the underdog made its way to the final battle, against the Ram TRX. Hailed as one of the fastest trucks on the market right now, the TRX doesn't disappoint, and basically crushes the F-150 by the end of the run.
Although it doesn't make any sense, the producers decided to have the TRX race against the Shelby as well, but it was kind of clear from the beginning that the TRX would be victorious once again. Now, looking at the video, we wouldn't really say that this was the most conclusive test, as the trucks were running on different kinds of tires and the distance was maybe too short for the purpose.
