We forgot to show you the rough side of Toyota at Goodwood in the earlier post, so we will dedicate this one to the hardcore dust rider Dakar Hilux pickup driven by Giniel de Villiers.
In fact, Giniel was awarded with the Best Driver Award for his brutal driving in the Dakar Hilux over the weekend at the festival. The 4 x 4 custom monster performed excellently on the narrow dirt track at Goodwood, a stage which was very different from the vastness of the Dakar Rally where it got podium for the last two years.
“In the last two years that I’ve driven the Hilux it has had excellent reliability – we didn’t have any mechanical or other serious issues with the car during the race, and that helped to put us in a podium position both in 2012 and 2013.”, said Giniel in an interview with Toyota Blog.
