The upcoming RM Auctions Amelia Island event, scheduled to be held on March 12, will witness the sale of a 1957 Ferrari 250 GT Boano “Low Roof” Berlinetta. Estimated to fetch between $550,000 - $650,000, the vehicle in question comes factory-fitted with the rare side vent option, adding to the fact that it’s the second-to-last Boano built.
In the period spanning 1999 – 2001, the car was treated to a complete disassembly and restoration at Black Horse Restorations. It was then finished in claret paint with a grey leather interior and burgundy piping.
Technical wise, the car is fitted with a 240 bhp at 7,000 rpm, 2,953 cc single overhead camshaft V-12 engine, four-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension with A-arms and coil springs, live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.
The extensive restoration work was honored with a Platinum Award from the Ferrari Club of America at the 2001 Orange County Concours d’Elegance.
Further show successes came in the form of a Gold & Platinum at the 2003 Cavallino Classic and the Long Beach, California Concours. In addition to the many coveted awards it has received, this Ferrari also enjoys certification from Ferrari’s Classiche program.
“An astute purchase indeed, such a low-roof 250 GT Boano will net its new owner a Ferrari with all the necessary check-marks – a handsome Grand Tourer, fully restored with performance to match, Ferrari Classiche certification, an FCA Platinum award and eligibility for all the world’s most desirable driving events, including the Mille Miglia,” a statement from RM Auctions reads.
