SEAT Leon ST Cupra 280 Pricing Revealed: Sub8 Pack, Bucket Seats Available

Today, SEAT UK's marketing team was busy announcing the all-new Leon ST Cupra 280, a car that's pretty much unlike anything else in the segment… or better. We already know what this uber-estate is all about, so let's start by telling you the price: £28,505 with a manual gearbox.

The big question is: how does it stack up against the Golf R Variant, which has 20 more hp and AWD? We don't actually know for sure because prices for the Variant haven't been announced. But a regular 5-door Golf R is already a lot more expensive at £30,805. That means SEAT's car should be about  £3,000 cheaper than the Golf equivalent.

There are, of course, ways to pay more for the new Leon ST Cupra 280. If you want a slick 6-speed DSG, the price rises to £29,860. But the most interesting option on the list is the Sub8 Performance Pack, the same one used by the regular Cupra to take down the Nurburgring FWD record in March 2014. You can get that on the estate as well, for £2,025 extra, and it includes even more substantial brakes, specially-designed 19-inch alloy wheels in either black or orange and body-colored side skirts.

Semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, which also featured on the Nurburgring attack car, are available for £460. For £1,250, you can even have Alcantara bucket seats with leather side bolsters. How cool is that?!

All ST Cupras in Britain will come with the same 280 hp 2.0-liter turbo engine. That means this has 30 more horsepower than its closest wagon competitor, the Ford Focus ST. With a DSG gearbox, that translates into 0 to 100 km/h times of 6 seconds and a top speed of 155 km/h.
