SEAT Leon Cupra 280 HP: Acceleration and Top Speed Tests

With all the headlines being greedily sucked up by the A45 AMG and Audi S3 right now, it's all to easy to ignore the brand new SEAT Leon Cupra. However, doing that would be a terrible mistake.
The 2014 Leon Cupra is the fastest SEAT ever made. Bid deal, right? Except it's also likely to be the fastest FWD car to lap the Nurburgring track in Germany. The top-spec Cupra model comes with a powerful 280 hp engine, a quick DSG gearbox and mechanical LSD. The result: 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds.

Czech magazine Autoforum recently tested a 2014 Cupra on an empty stretch of road. We really like what they are showing us: ESP turned completely off, an engine that revs fully even while the car is standing still and brisk acceleration.

All this is done with CO2 emissions of only 150 g/km. By comparison the second generation Leon Cupra R with 265 PS emitted 190 g/km CO2. What a pocket rocket!

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
