Schumacher to Conduct 2-Day Test with Ferrari F2007

With Williams F1, Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso jointly against the idea of Michael Schumacher benefiting from a proper testing session with the Ferrari F60 prior to his F1 return at Valencia, the 40-year old German decided to act upon it and do some testing mileage of his own.

After we reported to you less than 2 weeks ago that Schu used a Ferrari F2007 from the Maranello team's Corse Clienti department to conduct a full test at Mugello, it seems the 7-time world champion will return to the F2007 cockpit midway this week.

According to the British magazine Autosport, it is believed this week's testing session will be paid by Schumacher himself and will go down in two consecutive days (still at Mugello). However, just as the first F2007 test, the car will again be fitted with GP2-spec tires instead of slicks. The test will be supervised by members of the F1 Corse Clienti department and not by members of the Scuderia Ferrari.

The report did not say whether Schumacher will conduct some more testing mileage prior to the European Grand Prix or he'll tackle the Valencia race with only these 3 days onboard the Ferrari F2007.

This week's test comes as part of Schumacher's recuperation programme for the European GP, as the German has also conducted some karting mileage for a couple of days last week, at Lonato circuit. Writing on his personal site, the 40-year old German admitted the aim for the karting test was to test his strength and endurance.

Several recent reports – linked with Schu's manager Willi Weber canceling the memorabilia for the German's return – have raised some more speculations regarding Schumacher's potential return to the series. However, neither the German nor Ferrari have commented on the matter.
