Red Bull Also to Use Veto Against Schumacher's Testing

Now that Williams F1 have officially confirmed they are against Michael Schumacher's testing a Ferrari F2007 prior his return to F1 at Valencia, Red Bull Racing have also admitted they are against such a testing session.

Ferrari have asked both the FIA and the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) to allow Schu to step at the wheel of a 2007-spec Ferrari, as his last test on an F1 machinery took place more than one year ago. In order for that to be approved – as in-season testing is currently banned in Formula One – all the FOTA members would have had to give their OK. Yesterday afternoon however, the Grove based team issued a quick statement, in which they explained the reasons why they are against such a move.

Williams sees no distinction between Alguersuari's situation and Schumacher's and feels any deviation from the rule would create a precedent for the future. For the sake of consistency and fairness, therefore, we oppose Ferrari's proposal to test ahead of the European grand prix,” said the statement.

Echoing Williams' comments, RBR's team boss Christian Horner also put an equal sign between Schumacher's and Alguersuari's situations, while also emphasizes that the former has an extensive knowledge and experience in terms of F1 cars.

I am sure that Michael Schumacher who is a seven times world champion and has won 91 races won't have a problem getting up to speed. Also Michael has driven a two-year-old Ferrari last week in Mugello so I have no doubt that he will be on the pace quickly,” said the British manager.
