Schumacher Confirms Karting Event in Brazil, Fisichella Withdraws

Giancarlo Fisichella and Luca Badoer will not be able to join the other Formula One stars that announced their presence in the Desafio das Estrelas kart race in Brazil, an event scheduled for November 28th. According to Brazilian publication Globo Esporte, the two will not be able to attend the event due to “professional commitments.”

We find it odd to believe, though, as both of them are currently on ongoing contracts with Ferrari. And, as enlisted in the starting lineup of the aforementioned event, two Ferrari employees are already scheduled to make the grid at Desafio das Estrelas: Michael Schumacher and Felipe Massa.

According to the entry list for this weekend's event, Formula One will be highly represented at the Kart race thanks to drivers like Rubens Barrichello, Felipe Massa, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Lucas di Grassi (potentially Manor F1 driver), Nelsinho Piquet and Michael Schumacher.

The Great Circle's counterpart in the United States, the famous Indy Car Series, will also have some representatives battle for victory in the event, all born and raised in Brazil: Raphael Matos, Mario Moraes, Tony Kanaan and Vitor Meira.

The event promises to be an exciting one for the fans and will be ran on the brand new 1.207-km long track at the Arena Sapiens Parque Kartodrom, with 25 competitors lined up at the start.

Schumacher will be attending his second karting event in only one week, as he recently races in the Las Vegas' KUSA Supernationals karting event and scored a 7th place. Toro Rosso's Sebastien Buemi and Nelsinho Piquet also attended that race, but the former failed to finish it, while the latter ended it in 10th place.
