With over 40 years of experience in the business of chassis design and manufacturing, British company Harris Performance is one of the big names in the motorcycle industry. After having collaborated with Royal Enfield for the Continental GT frame, the ties between the two grew stronger, as the Indian manufacturer acquired the British one.
This new and important move is aimed at delivering a new generation of Royal Enfield bikes. Apparently, the Himalayan adventure bike we told you about in the past is only one of the new models Royal Enfield plans to roll out (most likely) next year.
It is yet unknown which way Royal Enfield is heading for with their new motorcycles, but it looks like the Indians are pushing really hard to up their game significantly. An Indian maker outsourcing R&D in the UK is definitely one thing we don't hear of too often, but this is what is happening as we speak.
A major Royal Enfield engineering center will be set up in Leicester, and several major names in the industry have already been recruited to work for the Indian company. We should mention Pierre Terblanche, Simon Warburton, former Project Manager for Triumph, and Xenophya Design's Mark Wells and Ian Wride, the guys who created the Tiger Sport, Explorer and the Daytona 675.

Two new engines are said to be at the foundation of the new Royal Enfield generation of motorcycles.
