Robert Llewellyn Stays in Germany and Looks at Renewable Energy

After checking out car sharing schemes in Germany, Robert Llewellyn stays in the country to check out renewable energy sources.
A fun fact which we were not aware of is the fact that over half of all photovoltaic panels ever produced have been and are used in Germany, a country which plans to have 80% of its power coming from renewable sources, by 2050 - an ambitious goal, but they seem optimistic.

Robert learns that Germany is well on its way to phasing out nuclear power, then coal will follow and finally, gas will be the last to go. Apparently, the number of wind and solar plants has surpassed their expectations, as people are discovering that they can make money, along with being green.

The trend is set to rise, and their goal is for the whole of Europe to contribute renewable energy to a common grid, in order to reduce the effect of the fluctuating power supply (some days it may be neither sunny, nor windy), and in this way, the Old Continent will get a steady supply of 100% clean energy. Who could argue with that?
