Although not as fast to 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) as the Cybertruck in Cyberbeast flavor, the R1T is no slouch. Rivian estimates 3.0 seconds flat for the quad-motor specification, which results in quarter-mile times in the 11-second range.
Pictured at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway drag strip, the blue-painted R1T in the video below ran 11.72 seconds at 109.79 miles per hour (176.68 kilometers per hour) against a supercharged V8-powered sports car in the form of a Jaguar F-Type. Based on its quarter-mile time, we're dealing with the less powerful P450 rather than the range-topping P575.

P stands for gasoline in British English, whereas 575 indicates metric ponies in Jaguar vernacular. The Rivian is understandably punchier, but alas, it's also heavier. 2024 is the final year of the F-Type. With its demise, Jaguar Land Rover will also discontinue its long-running V8 engine. Land Rover contracted BMW for the 4.4-liter V8 in the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, but Jaguar won't follow suit because the Leaping Cat is going 100 percent electric.

Every single combustion-engined Jag will be canned no later than 2025, the year the I-Pace will also leave the British automaker's lineup. Over at Land Rover, both the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will have EV alternatives in 2025 for model year 2026.

Turning our attention back to the drag racing video uploaded by Wheels on YouTube, the R1T then faces a white-painted BMW X5. Based on the front end's design, we're dealing with a pre-facelift G05 X5 M.

The 4.4-liter V8 lurking under the hood generates up to 617 horsepower and 553 pound-feet (750 Nm) at full chatter in the X5 M Competition, with maximum torque delivered at 1,800 revolutions per minute. How did it do in the quarter? 11.87 seconds at 116.90 miles per hour (188.13 kilometers per hour), therefore beating the Jag's 12.16-second ET.

The Rivian clocked 11.77 seconds at 109.79 miles per hour (176.68 kilometers per hour). The under-110-mph trap speed may seem disappointing, but remember that the Irvine, California-based electric vehicle manufacturer limits the R1T and R1S to 110 miles per hour due to tire speed rating and weight.

The Cyberbeast, by comparison, is advertised with a top speed of 130 miles per hour (209 kilometers per hour). This, in turn, makes the Cybertruck the fastest series-production electric truck by top speed. When it comes to internal combustion-engined trucks, the Hyundai Santa Cruz 2.5T is the fastest one on sale in the United States of America as of December 2023.

The manufacturer estimate is 133 miles per hour (214 kilometers per hour), which shouldn't come as a surprise because the Santa Cruz is a unibody twinned with the Tucson on the Hyundai-Kia N3 platform. As far as full-size trucks are concerned, the F-150 Raptor tops 120 mph (193 kph) with the standard V6. Both the Raptor 37 package and the V8-powered Raptor R are limited to 114 mph (183 kph), whereas the F-150 Lightning is good for up to 110 mph (177 kph).
