Running the red causes a lot of accidents around the world on a daily basis, and jumping a yellow traffic light is also accountable for quite a hefty number of crashes. However, while in some countries, entering a junction with the yellow is punished without remorse, not all drivers heed the yellow light’s warning.
In the worst cases, some of these fellows would even accelerate like idiots, hoping that they’d pass through the intersection in time. It goes without saying that these morons eventually end up crashing at high speed into other vehicles, operated lawfully by innocent folk.
The video below is a rather sad example of how decent, law-abiding citizens can get into a lot of trouble as they obey basic road regulations, such as slowing down and stopping at the yellow light. Not one, not two, but a total of three vehicles drove on through the yellow light, and one of the drivers was exactly the speeding-when-yellow type.
I am not even sure the rider was aware how close was the white pickup truck to rear-end him. Anyway, seeing such behavior is a bit disheartening, as the thought of being rear-ended at a fairly high speed by such an idiot is nothing relaxed afternoon rides should be like. And you can tell that the pickup was approaching at a high speed by the strong braking. Even more, the driver was clearly not paying enough attention to the road, as he’s also cutting the other car off while looking for escape routes.
