Lexus RC 350 F Sport Steers Its Way into Geneva

The Detroit Motor Show may have brought us the Lexus RC, along with its RC F performance counterpart, but Geneva has a saying in this coupe game too. The Swiss event if offering us the model that sits in between the two aforementioned ones (US line-up), namely the RC 350 F Sport.

You certainly won’t miss the F Sport treatment for the RC 350. Not with that reshaped spindle grille or the dedicated 19-inch wheels, which feature a machine finish and a dark metallic hue.

Climbing aboard, we find the LFA-borrowed moving center ring for the dashboard instruments. Moreover, the driver is spoiled with perforated leather on the F Sport steering wheel and shifter. As for the rest of the occupants, these can enjoy the Silver Performance trim, the unique contrasting stitching on the seats, as well as the Rioja Red interior color option.

More importantly, the F Sport package brings two main dynamic upgrades. We’ll start with the Dynamic Rear Steering. The F Sport package on the Lexus GS 450h has taught us the importance of such a feature. Thus, we’re more than happy to see the RC hasn’t been left without, like the IS, whose F Sport package eschews this tech goodie.

The rear wheel turn in the opposite direction of the front ones at slow speeds and in the same direction when the pace gets quicker. Their two-degree angle may not sound like much, but trust us, it is. You will feel the effect of the four-wheel steering’s effects both during city driving and while taking on the open road.

In addition, Lexus’ RC 350 F Sport features Adaptive Variable Suspension, with Lexus explaining that it has payed particular attention to the dynamic setting featured in the Sport+ drive mode. We’re glad to hear that, since we found the GS 450h F Sport’s suspension a bit too much on the soft side when the aforementioned drive mode was engaged.

As usual, the engine remains untouched, which means the driver gets to play with 306 naturally-aspirated HP at 6,400 rpm and a peak torque of 277 lb-ft (376 Nm) at 4,800 rpm.

Expect the Lexus RC 350 F Sport to hit the US dealerships this fall.
