Last time we heard about the Bentley SUV, Auto Express had learned that it was expected to be presented in 2015 and would offer a hybrid powertrain in 2017, a first for the British brand. That same report has seen been chiseled down by the Brits, who now claim it's coming in 2016.
Regardless of the imprecise time schedule, the model is shaping up to be quite an interesting one. The first thing that's changed since we saw the SUV as the EXP 9 F Concept is the design, as according to Bentley CEO Dr Wolfgang Schreiber "Since the concept, we’ve worked hard on the exterior and interior, and it’s now ready for final development."

The second cool piece of information is Schreber has hinted there would be a price overlap with the Range Rover, which Auto Express has interpreted as meaning it would start at about £120,000. Now, we know that doesn't sound like an affordable price, but it's equivalent to €145,000 or $200,000. Some people will pay that much for a well equipped Porsche Cayenne, so Bentley is being quite reasonable here. It's not in the same ball park as a Flying Spur, for example.

“Competition is always good for the customer. We all know Rolls Royce is thinking about an SUV, Aston Martin is also considering one we all know about the Range Rover. There could even be some others that come along," the same official says concerning the competition.

It seems seems Bentley has put its design mistakes behind it and is walking with pride, the pride of a competitive company that finally believes it has a product it can sell.
