Responsible for the whole crossover coupe craze, the BMW X6 is in its third generation and received a mid-cycle refresh last year. The changes are typical to facelifted iterations, as they revolve around the front and rear ends and the cockpit, which now features a curved display.
The X6 M still tops the family and is equally powerful as its predecessor. The 2024 model has 617 horsepower (625 ps/460 kW) and 553 pound-feet (750 Nm) of torque. Nevertheless, there is an important novelty here, as the 4.4L twin-turbo V8 has a 48-volt system integrated into the eight-speed gearbox and several upgraded internals.
According to the Munich auto marque, this improves the response and makes it more efficient. One would expect to see an improved 0-60 mph (0-97 kph) time, but the acceleration takes an identical 3.7 seconds, which, between us, is not bad at all for such a large machine. Top speed is 155 miles an hour (250 kph) and can be increased to 177 mph (285 kph) by checking the M Driver's Package on the options list.
Aiding the V8 powertrain are the uprated brakes, adaptive suspension, and sports exhaust system, as well as an active differential at the rear. The crossover still has an M-tuned xDrive all-wheel drive system, comes with 21-inch front and 22-inch rear wheels, and starts at $127,200, excluding the $995 destination charge, which makes it almost $10,000 more expensive than its predecessor.
Now that we've covered the basics, it is time to cast the light on a tuned copy of the 2024 BMW X6 M. Shared by Larte Design on social media a few days ago, it features a new body kit that makes it even uglier if you ask us. The list of upgrades comprises the new hood, three-piece front lip, mirror casings, tailgate insert, roof-mounted wing, diffuser with extra brake lights, a tweaked grille, additional trim on the fenders, and a few other things.
The wheels are new and measure 23 inches in diameter, and they're perhaps the only interesting upgrade of this super crossover coupe, which otherwise looks a bit too flashy. We also dig the satin gray look of the exterior and think it could have made do without the black accents. Then again, polishing this model is a very tough job, one that Larte Design still needs to perfect. However, for what it’s worth, we're fans of their takes on the X5 M.
At the time of writing, the extras mentioned above were not listed on the tuner's official website. This means that interested parties have to reach out to them to see how much everything adds up to, and if you're going to do that, don't forget to drop a line below and tell us about the Benjamins.
