The next-generation Nissan Micra will be built at Renault’s plant in Flins, near Paris, the French automaker revealed today.
Production of the new French-built Japanese supermini will commence in 2016 at an estimated annual volume of 82,000 units. The fifth-generation Nissan Micra will be built along side other Renault vehicles, such as the Clio and the Zoe.
"This announcement is good news for Flins, but also for all Renault plants in France. The efforts committed by our employees under the Renault Agreement are beginning to bear fruit. Renault is in line to fulfill its commitments,” said Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault Group.
Previously built in Sunderland, England, the Nissan Micra is being assembled in Chennai, India, since 2010. As one might expect, the Japanese supermini will share even more parts with the Renault Clio.
