Renault is struggling to be one of the safest manufacturers in the world and its efforts are paying off as the new Megane scored a 5 star EuroNCAP rating, with 37 points out 37.

This is the 11th Renault model to earn a five star rating. Other safe Renaults include the Koleos, New Laguna, Clio III, Megane II Coupe Cabriolet, Modus, Scenic II, Espace IV, Megane II, Vel Satis and the Laguna II.

There are more safety features that were first incorporated by Renault such as twin side-impact sensors, an innovation that débuted with Laguna III, six airbags, including two twin-chamber thorax/groin airbags, the Renault System for Restraint and Protection, which combines dual
pretensioners and load limiters with twin-stage dual-chamber adaptive front airbags, and new-generation headrests.

This new Megane has a “programmed deformation structure” that absorbs energy in case you crash in such a manner that the cabin is not touched and the occupants are a bit safer.

Moreover, it incorporates the third-generation Renault System for Restraint and Protection (SRP3) a system that senses how hard you crashed and pretensions the seatbelts, so your body doesn't get thrown forward in the car. This system also offers a bit of protection against submarining(the process in which the groin slides underneath the lapstrap), and the occupants head protection has been improved by 30%. There are also some new headrests hat prevent neck damage.

Renault found a solution for pedestrians that are now a bit more protected when you bump into them, and more protection for your children as well. ABS, ESC, and emergency brake assist represent passive protection systems that are incorporated in every Megane.
