Renault is planning a new SUV, which will be revealed at this year’s Paris Motor Show in concept form.
The first reports regarding the new vehicle say it will have an SUV body with five-door coupe lines. The next concept car from Renault is penned by Laurens van den Acker, the design chief of the French brand.

It appears that the automaker wants to benefit from the popularity of crossovers to the greatest extent possible.

In an interview with Autocar, the representatives of the French brand explained that the concept they have prepared for this year’s Paris Motor Show represents Renault’s vision of the future of the next big trend in the automotive industry.

After this concept, Renault will exhibit other one-offs, without announcing which of the concept cars will get a production version.

Even if Renault does not launch a production version of its upcoming concept car, an SUV with a Coupe silhouette and five-door body, the automaker will use some features shown by the exhibit.

Laurens van den Acker is responsible for the way Renault models look these days, as he has redesigned the entire range in the past few years.

From previous experience with Laurens van den Acker, the design boss of Renault, we expect to see an interpretation of the front grille, headlamps, along with other shapes of the concept car for its possible production version. If the concept prepared for this year’s Paris show will receive a series version, expect it to belong to a new market niche.

Renault’s strategy to discover new segments of the market has been decided after the automaker has successfully renewed its range. Without making supplementary conventional models, the French brand now focuses on finding new segments on the market which it can approach. Renault is expected to make a concept that is smaller than the Kadjar, which will fit between it and the Captur. Most likely, the platform of the Captur will be borrowed for the new concept vehicle.
