Renault will start its electric vehicle market takeover this year, with several models expected to hit the market in a few months. The electric flavor of the Fluence could be one of the first EVs to smile in front of the cameras and, more importantly, India could be among the first countries to get it. A report by Rush Lane hints that Renault is considering launching the Fluence electric sedan in India in a few months, probably after the display at the Geneva show in March.
Furthermore, the EV lineup is expected to be expanded later this year with the launch of the Koleos SUV which is expected to be released there by year end, according to Renault 2016 - Drive the Change plan.
Besides the electric Fluence, Renault is also gearing up for the debut of a new SUV in India that would go on sale there sometimes in 2012. Not much is known about the car but it is said that the project will be smaller than the Koleos.
"A more competitive Renault meeting stakeholders’ expectations. A strong Renault with a powerful brand image and a benchmark level of quality and services that will make all our employees proud. A Renault established in its French roots and at ease all over the world, making mobility affordable for all everywhere. A sustainable Renault in line with the energy and environmental challenges of the 21st century," Carlos Ghosn said in a statement for the press last week.
Renault intends to have a total of six models in India in 2013, so more new models are expected to be launched next year, including the electric vehicles the company will roll out in the rest of the world.
