Red Bull Will Not Use Team Orders Until the End

Many believe that having two drivers fighting for the F1 championship until the very last round is not something a team hopes for, as tension might build up between them and lead to lethal mistakes on the track, which in turn translates into a total fiasco in the overall classification. McLaren Mercedes, 2007, Fernando Alonso vs Lewis Hamilton… should we go on?

However, Red Bull’s boss Christian Horner comes to deny this, saying that it’s a "luxury" to have both drivers fight for the F1 crown until the last chequered flag.

Earlier this year, when Mark Webber was more than a race win away from his teammate Sebastian Vettel in the championship, his manager Flavio Briatore urged the Austrian team to go all in for the Aussie. Needless to say, Red Bull continued to give both drivers equal chances for the title and now they are only 15 points away from each other with 3 races to go.

What else should he (Briatore) say as Mark's manager?” said Horner in an interview with F1’s official website.

My answer is a clear ‘no’” added the British manager. “Of course, I can imagine that Flavio would prefer it if we go the Ferrari way and put our efforts behind only one driver, but that would be wrong, as both are right in the middle of the fight for the title. The only thing we expect from them is that they don't hamper each other.”

Additionally, he admitted that it shouldn't take one to “dig too much into psychoanalysis to understand that if two guys are fighting for the most prestigious title in motor sport then tension is part of the game.” However, as long as another Turkish GP incident doesn’t happen again, Red Bull has no reason to change this approach until the end.

I promise that the team will not interfere in the race for the title,” added Horner.
