Red Bull Will Lose Time on Long Spa Straights - Manager

As days go by, teams are starting to regroup and reactivate their F1 operations for the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix. Red Bull are certainly one of them, as the Austrian outfit looks with concern at the next two races in the F1 calendar.

As projected by several media ever since their dominant weekend in Hungary, Red Bull will likely suffer in terms of race pace at Spa-Francorchamps and Monza (home of the Italian Grand Prix), due to the high-speed characteristics of these circuits. Whereas the RB6 proved unbeatable on high downforce circuits such as the Hungaroring, it will lack that advantage in Belgium and Italy.

Team principal Christian Horner admitted his team will not be favorite for the win in the next two races, as the car will lose out to its rivals on the straight lines.

It is in the twisty second sector that we will have to make up time. Down the hill to Eau Rouge, and on the long straight and then back to the finish, we will lose out,” said Horner in an interview with Auto Motor und Sport.

In Hungary, the two Red Bulls put more than a second per lap between them and their rivals in the race, benefiting from the twisty nature of the track. What was noticeable when Sebastian Vettel tried to pass Ferrari's Fernando Alonso for 2nd place was that the Red Bull driver was making a lot of time in corners, where he would almost glue himself to the Ferrari, but was unable to challenge the F10 in straight line.

Needless to say, what Red Bull have gained with ingenious aerodynamics this season, they have lost in terms of engine power, as their Renault V8s are not in the same class with Ferrari and Mercedes. Mark Webber himself admitted that “we know we don't have the most powerful engine,” yet he urged his team to find a solution for the upcoming couple of races.

You get the same amount of points for all of them (circuits), but they will provide different challenges for us as a team and technically for the cars,” added the Australian driver.
