Red Bull Sees Kimi Raikkonen Option "Interesting"

Ever since Kimi Raikkonen was confirmed by Citroen Junior Team for the upcoming season of the World Rally Championship, people started asking questions about his potential return to Formula One. Quite odd, we might think, especially since the Finnish driver continuously stated that his dream ever since he was a little boy was to compete in rallies.

Nevertheless, his backing from Austrian company Red Bull in the 2010 WRC immediately led to reports that the former F1 champion is considering coming back to the Great Circus as a Red Bull driver, replacing Australian driver Mark Webber (whose deal with the team runs out at the end of 2010).

If neither of the two parties – Kimi on the one hand, and Red Bull on the other – hinted that such a move would be possible, one of the Milton Keynes team's important official reckoned for the first time that such a prospect is “interesting,” rather than a simple rumor.

He (Raikkonen) has a contract with Red Bull, let's wait and see how this develops. We have a large Red Bull family so there are many options. We will have to see how he goes in rallying and what he wants to do. But the idea is at least interesting,” said Red Bull's advisor Helmut Marko.

Although he signed a deal with Citroen, Raikkonen's salary for the 2010 season in rallying will be paid by Red Bull in most part.

Asked about his plans for the future, the former Ferrari-an gave a Kimi-like answer.

For me it does not matter. I do not follow it closely – I just read it in the papers like you,” said the Finn, according to the Independent newspaper.
