General Motors doesn't care much about passenger cars anymore. The Buick and GMC brands are both focused on the crossover, SUV, and truck realm, while Chevrolet and Cadillac only have the Malibu plus Corvette and CT4 plus CT5 series on sale.
In fact, Chevrolet just killed off the 2024 Camaro with the model ending production, although it's still listed on the company's online configurator from almost $31k. Instead, the mass-market Chevy brand only sells the $25,100 Malibu mid-size sedan, an affordable model with a 1.5-liter turbo inline-four and a CVT as the sole powertrain.

The sports car department is now fully occupied by the C8 Corvette – in Stingray form at a starting MSRP of $68,300, the all-new E-Ray at $105k, and the Z06 at almost $113k. If you want something premium, the $39,495 CT4 and $44k CT5 are available for the sensible buyer – or the V-Series plus the Blackwing models for the sporty type. Although it might seem like there are enough options, there are just four nameplates – and none of them rises above the mid-size category.

As such, it is no wonder that the rumor mill keeps ranting about Chevrolet bringing back some of its most beloved nameplates to fill the void left by the retirement of the Camaro pony car. In fact, many good folks from across the imaginative realm of digital car content creators want more than one revivals – some are rooting for the rebirth of the Chevelle to fulfill the space left empty by the Camaro, while others think the Malibu also needs a companion in the full-size department.

Those usually root for the hypothetical return of the Impala and Impala SS models. For example, PoloTo is a distinctively named automotive news video channel on YouTube - and they also share visions of new models created with (some) assistance from AI. Just recently, they allowed the resident pixel master to play with the design cues of the Camaro, Malibu, and Corvette – then come up with an unofficial interpretation of the design that could bode well for the current Chevy roster.

Logic dictates that we are looking at a four-door sedan, but that's merely wishful thinking. However, the styling is much more restrained than usual for an AI-assisted design project and almost looks like it could belong in the official Chevy online configurator in the 'Cars' section alongside (and above) the 2024 Malibu.

As for powertrains, the space is the limit as Chevrolet can get just about anything above the Malibu's meager 1.5-liter – including the 2.7-liter turbo engine seen under the hood of the Colorado mid-size pickup truck along with the eight-speed automatic transmission. Of course, we would also love to dare and imagine something mighty for the Impala SS version – perhaps the high-output 325-hp version of the 2.7-liter from the CT4-V or maybe even the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 with 472 hp and a six-speed Tremec from the Blackwing version!
